Christian and Muslim leaders Conference on for peace and development in Burkina Faso

burkina

Burkina Faso was awash with activity as PROCMURA had its Christian-Muslim leaders Conference between 14 and 15 March 2011. Under the theme ‘Cooperation between Christian and Muslim leaders for peace and development’, the conference sparked off live debates on the way forward for Burkina. The local daily ‘Le Pays”, carried the story of the conference on March 16, 2011, detailing the critical issues that came up during the conference. One of which was the fact that Christian and Muslim leaders had become more like firemen with regards to dealing with issues concerning Christians and Muslims. A lot of energy is invested in quelling conflict as opposed to trying to lay down a proper foundation for the interaction of Christians and Muslims. Although, it has to be noted that, relations between Christians and Muslims remain peaceful for the most part, religious leaders have the onus to re-enforce the peace, safeguard it and be in a position to hand it down to future generations.
