:: Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is an old practice by many societies some of which will not let go in spite of its proving discomfort and danger to women’s lives. As a practice that exists in both Christian and Muslim communities in many parts of Africa, the PROCMURA Women’s Programme sees it as a challenge to womanhood which Christian and Muslim women should deal with collectively. In this regard, FGM and its threat to women’s health always constitute part of the joint Women's Programme. Experts on women’s health and the ills of FGM are always invited to make presentations to the women, while those who have gone through the practice themselves give practical information on their experiences.
